This beautiful looking girl with her dimples and innocent smile won hearts of millions through ads like Perk and Liril. Preity started her career as a model. Her performance in the Liril caught the attention of Shekhar Kapur. The director signed her up with Hrithik Roshan in a movie titled “Tara ram Pum Pum.” However, the movie was never made. Later, she got the chance to work in a small role in famous south Indian director Mani Ratnam’s movie “Dil Se.” Her first movie was “Kya Kehna” which was the surprise hit of 2000. In this movie, she played the character of a small town girl, “Priya,” who falls in love with a rich boy, Rahul. The two eventually involve into physical relationship and she gets pregnant. When she tells Rahul about the child, he gets cold feet. Despite getting pressure from her family, friends, she decides to keep the baby. The mental strength of the girl to hold on to her decisions going against the social norms was the main strength of the character and Preity played her part very successfully.
